Hey, I'm Om. I build software from end to end.

Web applications, backend services, and data systems. Two software engineering internships, with hands-on work from product logic and APIs to deployment.

01 / Selected work

Selected work.

A deployed product, a local AI system, and a cloud benchmark. Three ways I turn a problem into working software.

01 / Product engineering 2024

A consultation platform that needs to keep private conversations separate while supporting different account permissions.

My contribution
Backend lead on a two-person team: data model, GraphQL API, authorization, and real-time messaging.
  • Next.js
  • Prisma
  • MongoDB
  • GraphQL
  • Apollo
  • Socket.IO

02 / Applied AI 2026

Local RAG App

Ask questions across private documents without sending their contents to a hosted model.

My contribution
Built the ingestion, retrieval, local model integration, FastAPI service, and Docker packaging.

03 / Systems engineering 2025

Distributed Hash Sorting

Compare Hadoop and Spark sorting up to 64 GB across an eight-node cloud cluster.

My contribution
Implemented the C++ and Java systems, provisioned the clusters, and ran the comparative benchmarks.

  • OpenMP
  • Chameleon Cloud

Spark sorted about 2x faster than Hadoop on this workload, with scaling measured up to eight nodes.

02 / Experience

Where I've worked.

Dec 2024 - Jun 2025

Full Stack Web Developer

  • Reduced average product configuration time by about 65%, to under two minutes, with an XML-driven Node.js and TypeGraphQL engine enforcing 100+ rules.
  • Cut configuration errors by over 50% with Socket.IO validation that disabled invalid option combinations and returned sub-second feedback.
  • Implemented role-based access control, server-side PDF generation, and admin-managed email workflows for the production application.
  • Owned backend debugging, performance profiling, and delivery documentation on a four-person team, with Docker packaging and Vercel deployment.
Jun 2024 - Dec 2024

Web Developer

@ Reality-Craft·Internship
  • Built 10+ reusable React and TypeScript components for a blog serving 300 to 400 active users.
  • Connected REST APIs to dynamic content views with category and date filters.
  • Resolved layout bugs and adapted the interface across three responsive breakpoints.
  • Contributed 8+ pull requests through the team's Git workflow and documented progress weekly.
03 / About

The work behind the code.

I work where product logic meets data. I build across the application, connecting interfaces, APIs, and the systems that move data between them.

At Codage Habitation, I worked through product rules, validation, and delivery with a four-person team. At Reality-Craft, I built reusable React components and API integrations. Both roles connected the interface people use with the logic behind it.

My projects connect that product experience with data and systems: owning Legal One's backend, integrating biomedical datasets for a ranking pipeline, and comparing Spark with Hadoop on cloud clusters. I like understanding the interface people use and the engineering underneath it.

I'm based in Chicago and pursuing an M.S. in Computer Science at Illinois Tech, with a 3.5 GPA and expected graduation in May 2027. I'm interested in software engineering opportunities across the United States, working across full-stack products, backend services, and data.

04 / Capabilities

How I solve problems.

The tools change with the problem. These are four kinds of engineering work I've put into practice across internships and projects.

Full Stack & APIs

Product rules,
working services.

From reusable React components at Reality-Craft to configuration services at Codage Habitation, I connect interfaces with the logic behind them. For Legal One, I owned the data model, GraphQL API, and messaging, then collaborated on frontend integration.

Data & Applied ML

From raw data
to ranked results.

I integrated 1.2M+ biomedical pairs into a 27-feature research pipeline and trained XGBoost and CatBoost rankers. In Local RAG App, I built document ingestion, local embeddings, and retrieval with source citations.

Cloud & Distributed Systems

Build the cluster.
Measure the tradeoffs.

I provisioned Hadoop and Spark on Chameleon Cloud, then benchmarked 64 GB of data across up to eight nodes. The work covered cluster setup, Bash automation, and measuring how compute, shuffle, and disk I/O affect performance.

Access & Validation

The right access,
for each role.

Legal One has separate client, lawyer, and admin roles, with messaging isolated by session. At Codage Habitation, I built real-time validation that disabled invalid product combinations as users selected options, reducing configuration errors by over 50%.
